Proverbs 18:22 He who finds a wife, finds what is good and receives favor from God. Marriage is a sacred vow between a man and woman and that’s what God wants His Church to promote. As Namirembe Diocese, we absolutely do not support the state of living together and having a relationship without being married in Church. God considers living together before holy marriage a sin
It is upon that background that the Diocese through the Mission Department, Christian Women Fellowship (CWF), Mothers Union (MU) and Christian Men Fellowship (CWF) organize mass weddings every year to give an opportunity to those in unholy marriages or unmarried have their relationship blessed by God through holy marriages.
The fact that many people distanced themselves from holy marriages due to excuses of finances to organize a wedding, the Diocese takes responsibility of the costs and this year the Rt. Rev. Wilberforce Kityo Luwalira, Bishop of Namirembe Diocese will officially grace the weddings on 22nd July 2017 at St. Paul’s Cathedral Namirembe where over 50 couples are expected to receive holy marriages.
We therefore appeal to all the unmarried couples and those in unholy marriages to make good use of the opportunity and a void the sin of cohabitation. Mathew 19:4-6 “Haven’t you read,” he replied, “that at the beginning the Creator ‘made them male and female,’ 5 and said, ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh’? 6 So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.”
