Mass Wedding 2017
Proverbs 18:22 He who finds a wife, finds what is good and receives favor from God. Marriage is a sacred vow between a man and woman and that’s what God wants His Church to promote. 2017 being a family year, as Namirembe Diocese, we absolutely do not support the state of living together and having a relationship without being married in Church. God considers living together before holy marriage a sin.
It is upon that background that the Diocese through the Mission Department, Christian Women Fellowship (CWF), Daughters of the King (DOK), Christian Men Fellowship (CWF), Mothers Union (MU) and Boys’ and Girls’ Brigade (BB&GB) organized mass weddings to give an opportunity to those in unholy marriages or unmarried have their relationship blessed by God through holy marriages.
Today Bishop Wilberforce Kityo Luwalira wedded 48 couples in holly marriages in a colorful mass wedding service held at St. Paul’s Cathedral Namirembe. We experienced mixed emotions as happiness overwhelmed the couples to the extent of some showing tears of joy when making the vows in the Cathedral filled to capacity. Among the wedded were 2 different deaf couples and 90 year old couple. The Bishop urged the married couples to be holly in their marriage as the Lord who called them is Holly. God loved you so much and He has given you the gift of marriage in this year of the family, added the Bishop.
The colorful service was attended by some members of Christian women fellowship, mothers Union, Christian men fellowship, Daughters of the King, Boys and Girls Brigade, Lay Readers, Clergy and Christians from some parts of the Diocese. Indeed nothing is impossible before God. Thank you Bishop Luwalira for the great work well done. God bless you and the organizing team!
