Mengo Senior School is a Church of Uganda founded institution under the supervision of Namirembe Diocese supported and aided by the government. The school has produced several people that have added value to the development of the Church and the country in various aspects. The school aims to give strong foundations to the students for the future by combining academic studies with spiritual programs and development of practical skills and attitudes essential for life and work in this era of advanced technology. These programs help students to develop and mature in spirit, mind, and body.
Today, the school hosted the Archbishop of the Province of the Church of Uganda, The Most Rev. Stanley Ntagali and the Bishop of Namirembe Diocese, The Rt. Rev. Wilberforce Kityo Luwalira who together conducted a colorful confirmation service of 105 students (40 girls and 65 boys). Preaching the sermon, the Archbishop urged students to bear good fruits so that they can be good examples of the God’s Kingdom. He warned the government about the land amendment bill which is in Parliament and urged the members to hand it with a lot of care and consult extensively. The Archbishop warned the students about homosexuality.
In his remarks, the Bishop Luwalira thanked the Archbishop for time given to the school amidst his very busy schedule. He appreciated the school administrators for the disciplined environment in school, committed and dedicated staff as well as excellent facilities that assist students to reach their academic potential. The colorful service was attended by head teachers of various schools, clergy, teachers, parents, old students, friends and well wishers. Congratulations to the newly confirmed members of God’s Church!
