Bishop Wilberforce Kityo Luwalira of Namirembe Diocese was born on 8th December 1958 to the family of the Late Eriazali Kityo Wanzu and Gertrude Nantume in Kiwenda, Busukuma Sub County in Wakiso District.
He attended Balitta Nursery School in 1965 – 1966, then joined Namulonge Primary School from 1966 – 1974, thereafter joined Kololo Senior Secondary School from 1976 to 1978 where he accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior on 13th February 1976. In 1976, he joined Bubajwe Church of Uganda where he was introduced into the philosophy and principles of the Anglican Communion under the leadership of the late Simon Peter, Namugongo. He served as Youth leader in that Church.
He joined Uganda Martyrs Seminary Namugongo in 1981 where he attained a Lay Reader’s Certificate. He was posted at Namulonge Parish where he served under the Late Rev. Christopher Sempa from 1982 to 1983. He returned to Namugongo Martyrs Seminary in 1984 for a Provincial Certificate in Theology.
